Kommentar: The Crime Syndicate är ett team av superskurkar från Earth 3 som består av de onda motsvarigheterna till vår jords Justice League. De dök upp för första gången redan 1964 och nu får de även en egen titel som ett led i att DC:s multiuniversum är tillbaka.
SUICIDE SQUAD #1

Kommentar: Det mest anmärkningsvärda med denna nya omstart med DC:s reformerade skurkteam Suicide Squad är att ingen mindre än Superboy ansöker om att bli medlem. Teamet verkar bestå av nya förmågor, bland annat är Peacemaker ny gruppledare och han dyker även upp James Gunns kommande filmversion av The Suicide Squad samt i en egen TV-serie på HBO Max.

Kommentar: Infinite Frontier innehåller dels den tidigare nämnda Batman-antologin Batman: Urban Legends men också en liknande antologitiel med Superman som fokuserar på hans signaturfärger rött och blått. I första numret av Superman Red & Blue får vi bland annat njuta av Stålis i händerna på Wes Craig (Deadly Class), Dan Watters/Dani (Coffin Bound) samt ingen mindre än den fenomenala Jill Thompson (Scary Godmother och Beasts of Burden).
THE SWAMP THING #1

Kommentar: Den Londonbaserade författaren Ram V (som har sina rötter i Indien) är superhet just nu med hyllade titlar som These Savage Shores, Grafity’s Wall och Blue in Green på sitt cv och på senare år har han även författat en hel del DC-titlar som till exempel Catwoman och Justice League Dark. Ram V spänner bågen rejält som ny författare till Swamp Thing genom att låta en ny person, Levi Kamei, ikläda sig rollen som träskmonstret och dessutom förflytta skådeplatsen till Indiens djungler.
TEEN TITANS ACADEMY #1

Kommentar: Serieskaparen Daniel Warren Johnson är en av mina favoriter med serier som Space-Mullet, Extremity och Ghost Fleet. På senare år har han bland annat gjort en fristående följetong med Cable och så den hyllade Wonder Woman: Dead Earth och även om jag helst av allt hade velat att han la krutet på att färdigställa sin egen serie Space-Mullet så plockar jag gärna upp hans tolkning av Beta Ray Bill under tiden.
THOR & LOKI: DOUBLE TROUBLE #1 (OF 4)

Kommentar: Författaren Mariko Tamaki har ett anslag som tilltalar mig mycket, framförallt när hon jobbar med sin kusin Jillian Tamaki (Skim, This One Summer), men andra höjdare är Supergirl: Being Super, She-Hulk, Harley Quinn: Breaking Glass och naturligtvis den Eisner-belönade Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up with Me. Tillsammans med det japanska illustrationsteamet Gurihiru (Superman Smashes the Klan) har hon tidigare gjort Spider-Man & Venom: Double Trouble och nu är det dags för en fristående uppföljare med det omaka syskonparet Thor och Loki.

Kommentar: Under flera har franchisen till serieversionen av Alien tillhört Dark Horse Comics men i och med Disneys införskaffande av 21st Century Fox så hamnade rättigheterna till rymdserien under ett nytt paraply och nu är det dags för Marvel Comics att skrämma sina läsare.
AMERICA CHAVEZ: MADE IN THE USA #1 (OF 5)

Kommentar: Miss America, eller America Chavez, var min absoluta favorit i Kieron Gillen och Jamie McKelvies underbara version av Young Avengers när det begav sig och karaktären har en stor skara av hängivna fans. Detta är hennes andra soloserie och hon kommer även dyka upp på vita duken så småningom i Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness där hon porträtteras av Xochitl Gomez från Netflixs The Baby-Sitters Club.

Kommentar: Man-Thing fyller 50 år i år och det är en karaktär som ligger mig varmt om hjärtat. Särskilt förtjust är jag i Steve Gerbers kultförklarade run under 70-talet som jag brukar läsa igenom då och då, tillsammans med Howard the Duck och Defenders av samme Gerber. Nu kommer en tredelad miniserie där Man-Thing blivit besatt av en ondskefull skurk och det är i tur och ordning Avengers, Spider-Man och X-Men som kommer till undsättning.

KARMEN #1

Kommentar: Karmen gavs först ut av det belgiska förlaget Dupuis som en seriebok 2020 men kommer nu ut i fem lösnummer från Image Comics. Det är en berättelse om sorg, självmord och försoning men också ömhet och mycket humor.

Kommentar: Efter Wytches, After Death och den pågående Undiscovered Country är det dags för en ny serie skapad av Scott Snyder. Tillsammans med tecknaren Tony S. Daniel har han kokat ihop ett övernaturligt postapokalyptiskt äventyr och där seriens protagonist Val Riggs driver en försörjningslinje med sin långtradare som skänker hopp och artificiellt ljus till en värld som tagits över av monstruösa skuggor. Nocterra är även den första titeln i Snyders alldeles egna imprint på förlaget Image Comics (Best Jackett Press) och andra titlar på gång är tecknade av bland andra Francesco Francavilla, Francis Manapul och Tula Lotay.
SHADECRAFT #1

Kommentar: Första volymen av Everything läste jag i lösnummer och den var riktigt bra. På senare år har Dark Horse Comics valt att skippa lösnummerförsäljning av vissa titlar för att istället ge ut allt i en samlad trade vilket känns lite trist men samtidigt blir jag glad att förlaget ändå väljer att ge ut serien. Jag tänker definitivt skaffa fortsättningen på denna läsvärda thriller.

Kommentar: Lusten och entusiasmen som väcktes hos Chris och Laura Samnees barn när deras föräldrar läste böcker som Mike Maihacks Cleopatra in Space, Judd Winnicks Hilo-serie och Jeff Smiths Bone gjorde att paret bestämde sig för att skapa ett liknande äventyr för alla åldrar som nu äntligen ser dagens ljus. Av alla titlar som jag presenterat i detta inlägg så ser Jonna and the Unpossible Monster ut som en riktig höjdare och blir därmed också Månadens tips.
